Ann Arbor Folk Festival Welcomes Country Artist Junior Brown
The Ann Arbor Folk Festival is set to feature a notable addition this year with acclaimed country musician Junior Brown opening for the popular Michigan jam band Greensky Bluegrass on January 30. Known for his unique ?guit-steel? double-neck guitar, which combines elements of electric and lap steel guitars, Brown emerged from the vibrant Austin music scene in the 1990s. He has been described as a blend of Jimi Hendrix and Ernest Tubb, showcasing a fusion of traditional country and surf rock influences.
Brown is also a cherished performer at The Ark, the nonprofit venue that benefits from the festival. This year's festival will adopt a more conventional concert format, with Greensky Bluegrass headlining on Friday and an expanded lineup featuring both local and national artists on Saturday, January 31. The Saturday roster includes acts such as Amos Lee, Dawes, The Crane Wives, Jon Muq, Rabbitology, and Ryan Montbleau. Ticket prices for the festival range from $56.60 to $281.50.
